Tae kwon do is so enjoyably a contrast from the world of academia. In academia, there is little to no respect for anything: ideas, people, beliefs, figures of authority. Whereas tae kwon do is more or less based on respect, for the dojang (the place where you workout), the sabeom nim, your classmates, the grand master, the forms and rules of the sport, etc. I don't know anything about South Korea, but if this practice of respect permeates all of their culture, I want to move there.

On my lunch break today, I wandered around campus for a bit. DU has filled up and turned on the fountains and little stream that runs through the arboretum (yeah, that's right, we have an arboretum on campus). Walking through all the cedars and pines with the water flowing underneath, I couldn't help but think that this is the most beautiful place I've ever lived. And now as I type this on the 3rd floor of the library, I'm gazing out the window at the Rocky Mountains. The higher ranges are newly covered with snow. I can actually see a cloud over one of the ranges dropping snow on it right now.

An update since my last (depressing) post. I'm feeling a LOT better. Yay. Now that's out of the way...

I love the smell of books. Today during T.A. orientation, we took a tour through the library. I know I'm in the right profession since I can honestly say that a walk through the stacks in the library is as pleasurable to me as a stroll on the beach. Ok, maybe not that much...but I like it a lot.

I've been extremely busy this week, and it doesn't look like that is gonna change. But I'm doing what I love, and staying busy keeps me from wasting my time on myspace.com. Well, I've got important things to go do...but I woud like to mention that my buddy Jesse is a now famous angler (he's on the far left).

So my allergy doctor found out why I've been sick for the past several years. Apparently, I have two types of infections in my sinuses, one of those being a staph infection. The CAT scan showed that my entire right sinus cavity is completely filled with some mass created by the infection. So now I'm on some high-powered antibiotic that is supposed to help, or possibly cure me. The bad side of that is that I feel sick a lot now...nauseated, shaky, tired, moody, etc.

But I'm trying to stay positive because I think this really is one of those situations where it's gonna get a little worse before it gets better. And if all this works, I may be cured of this problem I've lived with for the past 4 years. I'm looking forward to feeling like myself again.

I vote for John McCain for President. The Bush clan repeatedly tries to make him look bad because they know he will be a better president than George W. ever could be. (Yes I said "will be a better president" -- McCain 2008!!!)

Yesterday at Tae Kwon Do, I pulled some muscles in both legs. Today, I looked pretty funny when I would try to stand up out of a chair or get out of my car...or walk for that matter. But I'm getting more and more flexible. Hopefully, I'll get to where I can do the splits so I can kick some people in the head.

Amy's job interview today at Axiom went really well, so hopefully she'll get the job and can be my sugar mamma.
